azinorum -> SO MUCH FOR DIAGNOSIS… WHAT'S THE CURE? (1/14/2007 3:18:51 AM)

After spending nearly 5 months posting messages on this forum I have read many comments from dissatisfied members and guests but none have suggested possible solutions to the current crisis.

The basic question is how to address the stand-off between major Iraqi players, are any of them (especially those in power) sober enough to appreciate the potential dangers of the worsening civil strife and hence ready to reconcile other parties by basic compromises as suggested above, or are they too intoxicated to maintain their political (and economic) gains and not to give ground? What about the American role, can they actually do something to stop all this violence?

How do we begin to address all these problem so we can reach a suitable decision? Does anyone on iraq4u have any suggestions?

Salam my friends

Its a very tough question, and I am glad you have brought to light.  We could all argue here but is there anyone in power listening or reading this website.
It seems everyone is for it for a personnel gain.  We forgot who we are and where we came from.  I suggest the following, I believe it is time the army and the police take charge.

1- No one but no one is allowed to carry weapons without licence.  All privately owned weapons must be destroyed.  Amnesty is given for one or two months for all weapons to be handed in.
2- Anyone found carrying weapons without a licence will be prosecuted.
3- All parties and religious leader to meet and agree to stop the fighting and the killing.
4- Cleaning the streets from all the refuse and begin cleaning one street at a time.  I will make/ or ask the people living in those streets help.
5- Re-establish all communications.  Postal/Telephones/TV and radio, making them run by private companies and allowing them to fight for cheqper yet better services.
6- Control the exports of oil, keeping a close eye on ships leaving the Country.
7- Helping the farmers to turn the amazingly expanding desert into agricultural land again.
8- Allowing forgein investers to come to Iraq.
9- Invite forgein banks to operate freely
10- Build and build and lets open the country to tourism, and hard currency.
11- Invite back all Iraqis who left the country to come back and help in rebuilding the future.
12- Expand imports and exports, and better border controls to stop the black market.
13- Introducing programmes to educate the people on how to live in harmony after so many years of blood shed.
14- Keep religious leader away from politics.

I supose these points are only basic.

Calm: Many thanks for your reply. I started this topic to highlight how we spend our time complaining about what’s happening without offering any solutions to the crisis. At least you're thinking about ways to get things moving. What we should be trying to do is look at the problems in a practical way and not get caught up in conspiracy theories and academic theorizing. How can some problems be solved even at grass root levels without relying on government and other bureaucratic channels. I'm no politician but like you I feel there are some issues that could be resolved without waiting for Parliament and bureaucracy to bog things down with red tape. Perhaps by taking this approach the people can find their own solutions and set an example for their politicians to follow.

If you don't mind I would like to wait for other members contributions before discussing what solutions are relevant. AlAni, Sadiq2006, Zeynab, Akrawi, Harry, Tigris and others please feel free to add your comments when you get the time. Regards Azinorum

well my opinion that it is that for the iraqis to fight the americans and those puppets in the government like jalal talibani and masood barazani and al maliki and bring the original iraqi leader not from the USA, like the iraqis when they the british in the year 1932.
