Mr Azinorem
I think you understand me very well, and we are in the same way but i stell afraid that Iraq get anther dectator and we lose 30 years again.

Al Ani: We have to accept one thing….if we allow ourselves to be ruled again by a dictator after 30 years of Baathist rule, 3 wars, sanctions and secular fighting, then frankly we deserve it. I don’t think we can return to a dictatorship although I believe we need a strong leader who isn't afraid to make difficult decisions and then take responsibility for his actions. What I worry about is not a return to Baathism but an Islamic style government which will squeeze what life is left out of Iraq. I'm currently in Amman, Jordan which is a poor country with zero resources and when I compare it to Baghdad I swear I want to cry. Jordanians have succeeded in controling the muslim hardliners and are atracting alot of Arab and foriegn investment. Don't get me wrong its not Dubai, but considering its size and lack of natural resources this is quite an achievement. Can you imagine what Iraq would have been like if we'de only concentrated on trade rather than wars? it makes my head spin.

do not forget mesopotamia is the oldest civilization in the world for 8000 years and the cradle civilization of the world and the land of the first prophets and also the most fertile land in the world from the uppor uppor north of mesopotamia till very south of mesopotamia and the best educated people and the most kind people in the world and the advanced civilization it has before and it is still consider the most advanced one in the world from all the other civilizations and the best fighters in the world they made 5 empires to protect themselves from bad invaders like the kurds and the persains and the badouins and many other people and the most science, so please do not say that mesopotamia will never be good again it will be just those fake borders around vanish and the world and countries around leaves it alone then mesopotamia will be better again .

Indeed i agree with you that Iraq can be became a haven in the earth if we racilenized its econimec and open the trade to the world , make national and international investisement, in the natural ressources, also create artificial industry and agri-industry, it can be the first in the region and pass Arab amirate, but i stell tell you that man how you propose was read the same school of baath party and he is mestreous man, ma be if he get good force beside him and very easy to get from our peoples, he will be the second saddam.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we (the Iraqi public) will not have any say in the matter since it will be his own party who will nominate his successor if he leaves office prematurely.

Thats interesting. This means Talabani could be a key player should Maliki decide he wants out. In which case I'm sure once sadiq2006 reads this post he'll have plenty to say.

Good to know that there is a get out clause. I think we're going to need it!

welcome to late Details of Bush's new Iraq strategy

By The Associated Press 1 hour, 10 minutes ago
Details of President Bush's new strategy for
as outlined by White House officials on Wednesday:

U.S. TROOP INCREASE
• Bush will commit 17,500 additional U.S. combat troops, the equivalent of five combat brigades, to Baghdad. The first brigade is to arrive Jan. 15; the next on Feb. 15; the remainder in separate waves every 30 days.
• Bush will commit 4,000 more Marines, in two waves, to Anbar, a province that is a base of the mostly Sunni insurgency and foreign al-Qaida fighters.
• The president's upcoming supplemental budget request will include $5.6 billion to pay for his new commitment of troops.
• Expand embedding of U.S. advisers into Iraqi security forces.

ECONOMIC AID
_$414 million to expand the Provincial Reconstruction Teams and set up new Provincial Support Teams to help with rebuilding.
_$400 million in quick-response funds to address civilian problems.
_$350 million more for the Commander's Emergency Response Program, set up in 2003 to give field commanders money to solve local problems that quickly the improve daily the lives of Iraqis.
IRAQI COMMITMENTS
_Allocate $10 billion to assist in reconstruction efforts.
_Deliver three brigades for Baghdad; the first on Feb. 1; then two more on Feb. 15.
_Crack down on insurgents and give U.S. and Iraqi troops the authority to pursue all extremists, regardless of sect of religion.
_Reform cabinet to provide equal government services to all regions and sects.

_He will not propose direct talks with
Iran and

_Ease the policy of "de-Baathification," which purged
Sunni-led Baathist rule from the top layers of government institutions.
_Hold provincial elections to bring Sunnis back into the political process at local level
_Increase the transfer of security to Iraqi security forces by the end of the yearest news come from Bush

I agree. Its sad to say, but yes I think Iraq needs a tough dictator for the sake of security and unity. The new Iraq has proven to be a failed state I am afraid. People there (mainly criminals, killers, militias, terrorists, etc) dont fear God, but they certainly feared Saddam because they were right on his door-step and physically saw what he was capable of if anyone stepped out of line. Its not a good way to rule but it certainly maintained some form of stability and security compared to today at least.
