Hello, all...maybe somebody here would like to help me.
I am a Special Education teacher (young adults, ages 18-25), and for many reasons (not the least of which is trying to gain a better understanding of people with whom my nation is in "conflict"), our teachers have decided that we will concentrate this year's curruculum on the Middle East.
I have decided that my curriculum will be Myths, Legends, Stories, Religion, etc.
I love stories ("fairytales") for children and creation stories.
I am very interested in Gilgamesh and Zoroastrianism.
And, of course, Islam.
I always feel that we can't understand people unless we begin to know what stories they carry around with them, and "history" doesn't give us this.
I'm really looking for stuff that I can't get from books...personal stuff.
So...I don't even completely know what I am asking, but I would love to correspond with anybody who knows about old stories and ways...even if you just remember stories your parents told you when you were a child.
And...if a personal meeting is possible...I am near Philadelphia, PA.
Thank you in advance.
Charlie
