The recent news that arrives here about Iraq is so much more positive that an optimist could easily believe that Disney will open in its next theme park near Baghdad next summer. A skeptic could easily believe that the journalists have been kidnapped and transported to Saudi Arabia where they have their heads firmly planted in the sand.

Is the turn in events real? If so, why?

This fall we will hear from the Republicans that the surge worked and we must stay the course, pouring more resources into Iraq to maintain order, to rebuild.

The Democrats will tell us we must listen to the Iraqi government and prepare a timetable for withdrawal, and pour more resources into Iraq so we can maintain order, rebuild and get the troops out.

What is the situation in Iraq? Has it really changed? Is there a basis for thinking Iraqi peoples have a chance to rebuild their lives, their communities, and a country? Why I am I skeptical all the while hoping for the best?

PS- are there any forests in Iraq?

with an estimated 5 million iraqis that have left iraq afte the current government took place in search for refugee status don't believe things have improved. As estimated 4 million iraqis left iraq from 1970 - 2003 but the additional 5 million have left iraq since 2003.

What has improved is media and information control in iraq and the media in the united states to put a nice spin on the reality to continue selling the war so republicans have a chance at the next elections

most of the refugees that are leaving iraq are shia to your susprise and this is not because the current government is shia as well but because the current government's mission it to keep the mess and chaos in iraq so it can keep itself in the green zone protected and funded by us tax money

the government in iraq has successfully put its grip on the media and is in total control in the situation as if the country is run by a bunch of theives who were trained under saddam

the us will not tell you the truth about the current iraqi government because they want to cover up their mess and they are both, the republicans in the united states as well as the dawa party who is in control in iraq are on this together since day one and day one is not when the usa invaded iraq but when the usa started to fund this group back in the 1980's and 1990's
