While I think that many of the things on this thread are funny (especally the strike out of Kalishnikov->Clipboard) I would like to remind you that such talk might be excessively Western. I would like to remind you that the Koran itself speaks of the dangers of alcohol and I don't think it a wise thing to think that you are indestructable in that you can speak of these things lightly.
Woody, do you have any idea what its like to live in Iraq nowadays? You might think our only concern is the violence but you would be wrong. Not enough qualified doctors, engineers, teachers, professors, no electricity or clean water, no infrastructure, no trustworthy police force, no concern for the environment. In the last 40 years we have lived under a dictatorship, survived 3 wars, economic sanctions and our whole social structure has changed. Don't you see? our only escape has always been our sense of humor. Now can you imagine how you would have coped in the US had the tables been turned?
quote:
One of the troubling things in the West is that people, drunk on freedom, allow themselves to speak foolishly about their leaders, about religion and a host of other foolishnesses that you are probably already aware of. When I was an infantryman, we always spoke of the President in the most reverent of terms. Some of my fellows of education would point out something that didn't make sense in the policies and orders to our unit and the Army as a whole, but we always respected our leaders in the end.
Interesting. You fought for the right to speak your minds and now you are suggesting that its foolish to do so. And who says the current batch of Iraqi puppets are our “leaders”?

I would point out that perhaps the best outcome for Iraq is for the current government to become stable and strong. The alternative is for another strong man to come along, or a coup by a Taliban type group, or Iraq's secular traditions being swallowed up in an Iranian type situation. That you are participating in a past-time that many silly mericans do because they have been spoiled rotten for centuries now, your situation is such that if you think that this is somehow enlightened, will make your situation better, or "what they do in the West" is improper.
We have been drinking since the days when the US was inhabited and ruled by it's indiginious people. Don't mistake Iraq for Saudi Arabia.
quote:
That al Sadr looks like he could have a familial relationship with Rosie O'Donnel, that is funny (I think al Sadr would also find some humor in that) and good, clean fun I think.
Yes that is funny but perhaps we find the other stuff funny because our sense of humor is different to yours.

But let's put this in perspective. Either the current installed government will work or it won't. If you don't support it and respect it, calling them monkeys and the like, you will get a government that you will respect. This is how it works in the Middle East. The question each and every one of you should be asking yourselves is what kind of government you want and be working towards it. If its Taiban, then grab your Kalishnikovs. If its Sharia and an Iranian model, then keep smiling until the Infadels leave and then fall upon the puppets and smash them. If its the Saudi model you like, then start bowing to the "monkeys" and respect them and revere them and make them into Kings. If a more Western model is desirous, then stop this foolishness of denegrating those who might end up being your saviors.
Our saviors? can you please clarify who you are referring to in this instance?
quote:
Laugh it up now. History has taught us (in Viet Nam) that if this doesn't go through and go through quickly, that what happens is the Americans leave and all hell breaks loose, and guys like you end up dead as doornails and your families too, and the remainder will suffer under a represive probably Islamic regime until everybody gets their fill of **** each other.
I'm afraid history has taught your successive governments absolutely nothing. Thats why each country you invade turns into a bloody mess.
quote:
You have an opportunity. Its costs the American 300 million USD a day. It keeps the various factions involved on their toes and a kind of political vaccuum from which the Iraqi citizenry can choose what it wants. Make sure that you don't turn your nose up at something that you might want long term and have it disappear on you.
Again the money issue rears its ugly head. Given you are new to posting on the IRAQI site dont you think you might appear to be somewhat insensitive to us turban heads.

I could have taken a healthy dose of my own advice there and used discression instead of what I said. Strangest thing about hypocracy, when you are doing it, its very hard to catch yourself doing it until after you've said it.
About the last part there: my point is that Iraq, after the Americans bug out, are going to have either go on with the current government it has, or start afresh. The cost of going afresh is a lot of violence. To use the installed government (if its possible...it would be a first in the Middle East) would avert this difficulty. A technical point.
Cartoon and Woody, thanks for your inputs, very well expressed and powerful but simple wordings, the people whom you are talking to, are mostly living in the west and have no clue of what is going on in Iraq. The question is and I just came back from Iraq, if these people do love there country how come they don’t take part in the rebuilding process, oh yes I think they are the best in the art of moaning. Yes the country is in desperate need for doctors, but why we have not seen this massive movement of thousands of Iraqi doctors to help the country, do you know why?? I leave you to reflect, Massive Respect for you both ONLY.
MOTB, your back bro! Ahlen wa Sehlan akhi, I'm so happy you returned and still contribute with your very enlightened and intelligent outlook. But this time you stay here and keep posting, or I rip off your balls, crush them and make khi9yan ou tahina out of them and feeding them to a girl - who I shall not name - who been giving me a lot of grief.
In all honesty, I totally agree with you, Cartoon and Woody. Alcohol and such obvious indulgences are far from the point of what Iraq really needs - most people lack basic amenities - and the most basic freedom to actually live and not get murdered. While looking through the internet a last month, I found an article about Iraqis in the West meeting with Iraqis from Iraq of their same profession to help teach them the new advances in the West which the people in Iraq don't know about. The aim is to help Iraqi professionals increase their knowledge of the field they work in and make the lives of Iraqi people better. But at the end, those Iraqi professionals are given a grant to help them - which most spent on immigrating out of the country.
That is what I believe the problem is - us Iraqis in the West are often ridiculously oblivious to the true situation there. The same goes to all the Iraqi government who are a million miles away, and they are bussy discussing whether to put tomatoe ketchup, or mayonaise on the burger sandwich - while most Iraqis can't even afford the bread!
What next, talking about how to decrease pollution in Iraq? Think about the new colour of the pavement stones, and whether to have apple or orange trees by the side of the road? How about building a new Golf club, or theme park (which they are really considering)? Or how to stop cruelty to animals hahaha! Maybe they should organise to make the world's biggest Ice Cream to enter the Guinnes Book Of World Records? All while 50 people are killed a day!
Those people are all a disgrace, and Maliki's stupidity would be funny if is is not leading to the deaths of so many people.
However, I believe this thread was made by LoB to joke about these things, and I don't think they are being serious about making an Arak Party. They are only mocking and parodying such people like the current government who are completely oblivious to the situation on the ground - while they all live in there air-conditioned mansions in the Green-Zone, guarded by private armies, and served by an army of naked Iranian ****s.
Dear NB, skimming your reply made highly disappointed with the language used, I did not expect such a reply so intense in nature From an INTELECTUAL!!??INTELLEGENT!!?? Charecter like you, any ways, people who are bigger and stronger than you couldn’t rip them out , do you know why?? Because they are Sooooo Biiiiig, that you need an eighteen wheeler to carry each on of them. And by miracle they are not two but I have then in three pieces, and you know what I mean:):). Also I am highly disappointed with you, for not being able to impress your girl friend which is in a way creepy, if you have any problems just point her out to me, and I will do my best to convince her (and through writing only), that you are of such an impressing nature. With respect to the part of the lively hood of the Iraqi people, apparently I was right in the judgment that I made in my previous reply, and also it must be noted that I choose the occasions and times I find necessary to share or to contribute on this forum, and nobody could force me to stay. Regards
Dear MOTB 18-wheelers are no trouble. I forgot to mention that my balls are so big they blockade the sun - so I can just whip them out, and the world will be in eternal darkness, cold and food wont grow. Then I can ask the governments of the world to give me all the 18-wheelers and heavy pulling equipment I need. Hahaha
Anyway, appologies for sounding a bit forcefull, but I was just very happy to see you return my friend. I appreciate you got a busy life, and will have bigger priorities - and I respect that. When you went after the last thread Harry started which made lots of people stop posting, I was worried you aren't going to come back, so I was just a bit overcome with happiness to see another member return. Calm is back, and I seen Harry post a couple of replies since. Also we got a few fresh faces names/aliases and avatars, so inshallah this site will get back to normal.
And unfortunately, she is not my girlfriend - I am trying to get her to date me, but girs are very complicated to understand - especially Iraqi girls. And it is me thinking so much about her that's making me less intelligent and intellectual. Thanks for your offer to help bro, but I'm sure can do anything with a bit more of the old charm. If that doesn't work, I'll use black magic!!!
Damn, I've just came here after a month, and I am both completely surprised and disappointed there are no new posts whatsoever.
What ever happened to the intelligent members who comment on others' political stances in enlightened debate, or the caring members out there? What, is no-one even gonna give me advice on impressing and Iraqi girl? Shame on you all!
I'm away from home, and this is the only good intellectual Iraqi community I have, and that itself is now dying out. So start posting people, or I might lose my Iraqiness.
