dritalin -> Can the US Army defeat Jaish Al-Mahdi? (4/30/2008 7:55:04 PM)

No, I wouldn't think so. The US army wasn't able defeat Al-Qaeda, not alone at least. So the real question I'd like to pose can the Iraqi Army defeat the Mahdi Army? They've already shown promising ability with the battle tested Iraqi 1st div. being posted to QRF (quick reactionary force, a role previously assigned to US units.). Also other units have been showing competency with the recent conflicts in parts of Baghdad, Basra, and Sadr city. With the Iraqi army and the US army working in more and more of a side by side role, will the Muqtada lose his base of support? Any prediction how long Sadr will hold up his offensive? I don't think he'll last. The Mahdi army just needs to be removed altogether from the political process. The sooner the better. Their nothing more than thugs and mob bosses.
