Amazing what we send to them, and what they send to us.  I've been tea total for two months.

Lion of Babylon -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/10/2008 6:03:36 AM)

Very interesting, thanks for posting. When one of the smugglers is asked "who consumes all this alcohol in the Islamic Republic of Iran"? the smuggler replies "Everybody, they all love it, and the Mullas are the first"!

Whats the story with going tea total? How can you write without fuel?

Calm -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/10/2008 7:43:59 AM)

i am trying to lose weight my friend, so when I appear in public signing my book, I will look gorgeous as ever.

I Laughed when I heard that comment of Turbin Men on the old malt whisky.  There are so many videos of them hunting wild bigs and sitting around fires and eating, with a glass of whatever.

They are all corrupt, and very very few are honest.

Calm -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/10/2008 4:18:29 PM)

I would like to ask Harry or Tigris that the last posting has nothing to do with what I have posted, and should be removed, it is a straight forward obstruction of a posting hoping to destroy this website.  He has done it again and again and again.

Lion of Babylon -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/11/2008 3:36:18 AM)

I totally agree with calm on this one. I realize that the way we interact as human beings just doesn’t allow for strictly on topic posting in a thread, nor should it. It would be a dreadfully boring discussion if the people involved were not allowed to deviate from a very narrow path. We all know conversation just doesn't work that way. Having said that, there is a limit to how much of this thread spoiling should be allowed by the moderators. Our conversations are continually hijacked by Sadiq whose sole aim is to vandalize threads and prevent them from reaching their natural progression. It’s a deliberate, bad faith attempt to disrupt the forum for his own peculiar amusement and it’s been going on for too long to be funny anymore. I used to think he was just the forum village idiot but now believe he is motivated by a program of malice rather than idiocy or ignorance. Sadiq has been doing this on the politics forum for 18 months now, so I don’t think asking him politely is going to make any difference. I'm not intirely sure what the moderators can do about this but simply warning the offender hasn't stopped him till now. If Harry & Tigris don't have the authority to delete off topic posts then the only way to deal with this character is to ignore him.

Lion of Babylon -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/11/2008 4:11:47 AM)

I came across this phrase which appears to fit sadiq's behaviour. I guess we all better familiarize ourselves with these techno terms otherwise our kids will think wer'e cavemen. Anyway, back to Sadiq. If my guess is correct then he suffers from what is know as the Internet Troll Personality Disorder. Heres the definition:

The Internet Troll Personality Disorder is characterized by attention-seeking and disruptive behavior in anonymous, delocalized places of socializing such as discussion forums and Newsgroups.

There are pages and pages of analysis available on the net and I chose the below because it was the easiest to understand. Looks like our friend Sadiq needs a shrink!

The Internet Troll
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-an-internet-troll.htm
An Internet troll is someone who posts offensive, controversial, or divisive material on an Internet community. Trolls are an unfortunately common occurrence on many communities across the Internet, and there are various steps which can be taken to combat them. If you are currently struggling with an Internet troll, the best thing to do is to walk away, since trolls feed on attention, and they will usually disappear if they are ignored. The evolution of the Internet troll was a slow process which began as computer users started to more widely adopt the Internet. At first, the term referred merely to someone who was “trolling” for a response or opinion, in the same way that fishing boats cast out large nets to troll for a catch. Over time, trolls grew more aggressive, and the term began to be used specifically to refer to someone irritating or hurtful. In this sense, a troll could be compared to the nasty creatures of Scandinavian mythology which are also known as trolls.

There are a number of different types of trolls. In the most classic case, a troll harasses an Internet community for a few weeks, posting contradictory opinions or statements on bulletin boards in an attempt to stimulate a response. Internet trolls are differentiated from people who genuinely wish to present a different viewpoint by their attitudes and aggressiveness; their goal is not to discuss a situation, but to frustrate the members of a discussion board. They often use fallacious arguments or attack the users of a site when they attempt to defend themselves from the troll's activities.
In some cases, a troll becomes a recurring figure who is well known by long-term members of a bulletin board. The individuals often tell newcomers to the community to ignore the troll, who may use various tactics to get a rise from newbies. In more serious cases, an Internet troll may try to drive a wedge through a community, often with the assistance of sock puppet accounts. A sock puppet is a fake identity which is used by someone who does not want to post under his or her regular name; some trolls have multitudes of sock puppets to make their side of an argument look like it has a large number of supporters.
Trolls can be extremely frustrating. Especially when trolls use hate speech and stalkerlike tactics, they can cross the line to being dangerous in addition to being aggravating. If you are the administrator of a website, there are a number of ways to deal with trolls, from IP blocking to reporting them to the authorities if they threaten users of your site. As a site user, the best response to a troll is no response, which will ultimately drive the Internet troll into moving on in search of fresh prey.

As for cutting him some slack. How far can anyone take a person as intellectual, when that person continuously posts the same words and insults about everyone, and every nation on the face of the earth. Additionally, he never ever offers his opinion about any subject, nor he selects a side to any discussion.

As for deleting any post on this site. Posts will be deleted for only a few reasons, and they are as follows.
1- A post that is not in the correct forum, and there is no forum dedicated for the subject of that post.
2- A post that has no relation to the topic at hand.
3- A post that displays any signs of biased opinions against a group of people, and includes all individuals belonging to that group.
4- A post that includes profanities, and other sexually explicit words or images.
Posts will be evaluated, and acted upon accordingly.

Couldn't agree more. Personal choice is our greatest privilege.

NeoBabylonian -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/13/2008 9:26:09 PM)

LMAO at guy praying with pile of smuggling alcohol behind him. [:D]

If our government were anything more than puppets, they should have used that lucrative trade for our advantage, by legalising it. Iraq can make so much money selling them alcohol to Iran - we can even sell them the famous 90-odd percent Iraqi Arak. They should arm those guys instead of the militias and terrorists, and while they're at it, they'll whack a few Iranian law and order personnel and weaken Iran's influence. They should also give them quad-bikes and snow mobiles so they can make even more money for our expenditure. [:)]
Meh, but I can keep dreaming. [8D]

Harry -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/17/2008 12:18:14 PM)

Please let us continue our civilized discussions, and keep it within the subject matter.

Lion of Babylon -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/23/2008 11:45:37 AM)

3alaykum Al Salam

MOTB: Your initial response was to Calm who is an Iraqi Christian. Given the substantial desecration of Christian places of worship, assassination of priests and archbishops in our country, I don’t blame him for being sensitive, do you? What I found distasteful was the flippant manner in which you chose to structure your reply. I am a Muslim and whether I like it or not, the majority of those killing innocents in Iraq call themselves Muslim too. The videos of beheadings and kidnapping in Iraq are also carried out by so called Muslims so when it comes to our country we have to face facts. No one expects Americans to care about what happens to the average Iraqi but I would at least expect Iraqis to have some mercy on their own people. I was in Iraq from 2003 till 2004 and was forced to leave because 2 members of my family where kidnapped. In both cases the negotiators were Muslims as were the groups that they represented. Till now there haven’t been any documented cases of Christians organising criminal gangs, blowing up markets or holding people hostage in the name of Jesus. I am speaking about Iraq so please don’t start presenting me a lecture on European and American history. As Iraqi100% said all countries have managed to move forward with their differences except the Muslim world where it has went backwards and I would have to blame them and not the US and Israel”. OK, enough religion please and lets get back to politics.

MarkOfTheBeast -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/24/2008 1:38:24 AM)

Dear Lion of Babylon & New Babylonian,

I wish you both a pleasant day, from my point of view this was indeed a very productive discussion, in which we were capable of establishing very good common grounds, in the ways that we look at things. I totally agree with every single word in your replies, the entire point of the discussion was all religions in a time, has been mobilized and used to create mess and to achieve political gains, and I don’t exclude any one of them. Hence let’s go back to the main point of the discussion which,  I Believe was BEER and Whisky, In my point of view, the best MAZZA with chilled beer is either roasted peanuts of Crisps, if you have any other suggestion with regards to the Best Mazza’s with Chilled Beer , feel free to comment.[:D] [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][8|][8|][8|][;)][;)][;)][;)][;)]

Lion of Babylon -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/24/2008 5:07:54 AM)

Yes, lets go back to the original topic.

Although my favorite beverage with mezza is Arak I do like a cold beer on a hot summers day. When I was in the UK most beer drinkers used to order something called pork scratchings (I think thats how its pronounced).

Try Arak with sliced cucumber, fresh salted lettuce and heavily garliced Lebneh. I'm sure you wont be disappointed! [image]http://www.aliraqi.org/forums/images/smilies/arak.gif[/image]

Calm -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/25/2008 12:21:27 AM)

Now you talking.  When I was in Zahla in lebanon 74, we went to a lovely restaurant and ordered a bottle of Arak.  We had 44 small plates filled with the most delicious mezza I ever ate.
Small Kubba Halab, Dolams with meat and without, Jageek (Cucumers and Yorgurt), Humous, Baba GHanoog, Taboolla, Shawerma, shish Kebab, Tikka, and I am damn hungry now.

I believe this discussion is over.  Where is azinorm????????????

MarkOfTheBeast -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/25/2008 7:33:42 AM)

Dear All,

A Pleasant day to every one, I am really happy to see that (( We are all Drinking Lion Milk)) or 7aleeb Isba3[:D][:D][:D][:D][:)][;)], my favored drink is Guness, that Irish Beer, which reminds me of some vivid beautiful memories, any ways, I would rather stick to Peanuts and Crisps, and Arabic salad with Whisky, finally Massive respect to all.[:D]

NeoBabylonian -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/25/2008 8:01:06 AM)

I left Iraq back in 98, when I was just nine, and been living in the UK ever since, so unfortunately I never drank the legendary Haleeb Isba3 [:(]
Also since I'm in the UK, pubs are out of the question, as I can't stand warm beer. When meeting up with the guys (mostly Iraqis) we usually buy our own beer and chill it (secretely from my religious and nagging mom [:D] ), and crisps and peanuts seem to do it for a mezza for us. [:)]

MarkOfTheBeast -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/25/2008 12:08:06 PM)

Dear Neo Babylonian,
Thanks for your reply, Foster’s or Heineken, I prefer Guinness, tell me about your choice[:D][:D][:D][sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley32.gif]

NeoBabylonian -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/25/2008 1:13:42 PM)

Lol I like Budwieser, but I haven't really tried Fosters, Heiniken or Guiness - just Budwieser and Alcopops which are absolutely disgusting, so I stuck with Budwieser.[sm=smiley36.gif]
I should try the other types sometime too bro. What beer type do you recommend? [sm=smiley17.gif]

MarkOfTheBeast -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/26/2008 1:58:56 AM)

Dear NB,

Hi, I would say, ice chilled Heineken, with freshly made chips, try it[:D][:D][:D]

NeoBabylonian -> RE: WE ARE IN BUSINESS (3/27/2008 5:51:14 PM)

Sounds nice, I'll buy some Heineken next time I go shopping. Thanks for that. [:)]
