Being a half-Iranian, I myself agree that Ahmadinejad is a cockroach (I couldnt have coined a better term). But I think the title of the thread is somewhat insulting, in that it directly correlates the likes of Ahmadinejad with average-Iranian people.
I think a better title is 'Islamist' or 'Khomeiniist cockroach.'

Much in the same way I can’t deny the Saddam is Iraqi; your other half can’t deny Ahmadinejad is Iranian. As distasteful as that might be for both of us, I’m afraid it is fact. So when I said an Iranian cockroach I wasn’t directing the statement to the Iranian people in general but rather to one particular individual who happens to be an Iranian. I grew up in USA. However, I do have an affinity for Iraqi culture, language, history, and politics (which is more of an impulse, rather than voluntary).
I cannot say if I feel more 'Iranian' or 'Iraqi', because I dont think its very easy to quantify that. I live through the experiences, ideas, relations, etc.

so do u feel american? or do u feel like u have no country? or may be this is not important 2 u? i can not imagine 2 b anything than iraqi. this is why i ask. i think it is important 2 feel u belong to a country or identity. it will help me understand how u come 2 yr ideas and wat makes u think the way u do. 4 example in the iran iraq war. what did u think? in the iraq usa wars 1991 and 2003 wat did u think? where u come from makes these answers easy so if u can not decide them yr life must be confused. do u understand wat i mean?

I believe rather than all neatly fitting into preset identities and unquestionably go with what they think (ie Iraqi supports Iraq in Iran-Iraq war, American supports USA in 91 war), I think it is important to make our own minds and follow our own hearts - and as much as we might hate it, it is vital to always consider the opposition's opinion, or simply put ourselves in their shoes.
As for Proton (so why did you choose the name bro? Is it the crappy car? What were you thinking you psycho! ), I think there is nothing wrong in being equally Iranian, Iraqi and American, and he should not be confined to one culture, but learn from the good aspects of those cultures - or all cultures in the world, much like what we should be doing.
But for general 'impulse' stuff, naturally it's more likely for children to grow up to their mother's influence, so will take on more of her personality, even if she is more absent than the father.

neobab. i think u feel this way because may be u did not live in iraq during these times. i think iraq is in all our blood but if we live in iraq we have more identity with her. i was born and educated all my life there. i share all experience of the wars with my family and freinds in my country. i was under saddam and now under islamist fake government of alawi-jafari-maliki. i c the first americans when they walk into bagdad. i love iraq even if now i do not understand what is hapening there. i am typical iraqi who complain about iraq with my iraqi brothers and sisters but defend her when i speak to ppl from the west. ifeel iraqi always and i do not c this is a matter of choice. it is something i can not escape or hide from. if my country is having wars with iran or usa i know exactly what my feelings r and who i will stand by to suport. i am iraqi so these questions are easy 2 answer with out needing 2 debate. i hope u undestand what i mean.

Dear abujassim: I totally understand what you mean, and like you, Iraq is always in my blood, and I will always support the Iraqi people. However, I think living more than half my life in the Uk and being educated here, I might have started considering some aspects of culture here, but inside my heart my loyalties are always with Iraq. However, I don't think Saddam or Maliki's governments represent the great Iraqi people such as yourself. Maliki is Iraqi on the outside, but inside hios hearts, his loyalties lie with pleasing the Iranian government and Ahmadinejad. Saddam was Iraqi on the outside too, but his priorities were pleasing the Arabists in Egypt/Emerates and himself, and not the Iraqi people too. I totally understand you bro, and I agree with you 100%.

I am American, with a respect for my culture and heritage (e.g. the same way an Irish-American feels about Ireland).
