NeoBabylonian -> RE: Design a new Iraqi flag! (3/13/2008 8:10:52 PM)

Sorry it's been ages, but I've been very bussy with alsorts of unexpected crap. :) Anyway, here's my Proposed Iraqi flag. I did half weeks before, and just finished it now, and overall it took me some half hour with my laughable MS Paint skills. [:)] It's just a rough design of how I think it should look like: http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x295/Neo-Babylonian/IraqFlag.jpg I'd like the Lion Of Babylon to be like an outline drawing, not a full picture, so it'll look better, but the only one I can find has 'Sample' written across it in red [:@] The black, white and green are Iraq's old tri-colour scheme thanks for LoB's inspirational post of previous Iraqi flag, I appreciate it bro. I chose it over the newer Red, white and black because that's when things started going pair shaped lol. They are I think to represent Iraq's Arabism - it's Arabic main language and majority Arab identifying population despite our many geneological decents (ie Arabised Persians, Turkomen etc...). In the middle is one of our most recognisable heritage images, the Lion Of Babylon, to represents our legendary strength and determination as a nation. In my opinion, despite the pathetic state of Iraq now, I am very proud of the Iraqi people for being still able to manage and achieve what they are under those circumstances. As hard as it may be to imagine, most other people would have been worse than we are have they gone through what we have. On the right is the Mesopotamian Sun, that was very prominent in Iraqi symbolism prior to the stupid Pan-Arab movement that took away so much of our Mesopotamian identity. My family in Iraq have some very old plates (not the type you eat from, but the useless ones you put in shelves and can never use...) from the 1920 as soon as Iraq was becoming a country filled with those Suns and other Mesopotamian symbolism. So I put it there to represent the majority heritage of the Iraqis. At the left there is the Kurd sun, also a very old symbol from the Kurdish heritage and culture. Since they are the second largest group in Iraq, I think it is also important to put something from them there. And my friend sadiq2006, I understand it is not Mesopotamian, but Iraq is not all Mesopotamian, and some of the best Iraqis aren't Mesopotamians either. Hopefully, this also will stop them from continuously using their Kurdish regional flag and even banning the national flag. Even better I hope this compromise will improve Kurd-Iraqi relations and stop their pathetic sepratists from winning them over with foolish pipedreams. And if you still angry sadiq2006, the sun looks like it almost coming from the lions ass. [:D][:D][:D] Anyways, please all honestly tell me what you think of it. [:)]
