Astonishing. Over the last 4 years, I think we have all been shocked by a lot of the savagery and mindless blood letting in Iraq......but this one is just too horrible to fathom. For a family to 'execute' another family member in front of other family members because he didn’t pray and wore western-style trousers, defies belief. I mean, I know all of the above happened, thats one thing, but to actually saw off your own uncle's head in front of his kids...........thats just too hard to accept, even amongst these scumbags. I would call them animals, but no animal has done anything to deserve being associated with these creatures. This is a new low for Iraq.........God help us all. The militants considered that school guard Youssef al-Hayali was an infidel because he did not pray and wore western-style trousers, they told police interrogators after being arrested in Diyala province northwest of Baghdad. The three cousins executed Hayali and his wife Zeinab Kamel at the all-boys school in Jalawlah in Diyala province, village police chief Captain Ahmed Khalifa said. No further details were available. Sunni Arab communities across Iraq have been turning against al Qaeda because of its indiscriminate killings and strict interpretation of Islam, which includes a ban on smoking in public and forcing schoolgirls to wear veils. I realize this won't explain why these sub-humans executed their own kin in front of innocent little children from their own family but I thought it was relevant somehow. Beheading As A Cultural Practice Beheading with a sword or axe goes back a very long way in history, because like hanging, it was a cheap and practical method of execution in early times when a sword or an axe was always readily available. The Greeks and the Romans considered beheading a less dishonourable and less painful form of execution than other methods in use at the time. The Roman Empire used beheading for its own citizens whilst crucifying others. Beheading was widely used in Europe and Asia until the 20th century, but now is confined to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Yemen and Iran. Saudi Arabia publicly beheaded 52 men and 1 woman for murder, rape, sodomy and drug offences in 2003. One man was beheaded in Iran – the first for many years. Beheading was used in Britain up to 1747 see below and was the standard method in Norway abolished 1905, Sweden up to 1903, Denmark and Holland abolished 1870, and was used for some classes of prisoner in France up until the introduction of the guillotine in 1792 and in Germany up to 1938. China also used it widely, until the communists came to power and replaced it with shooting in the twentieth century. Japan too used beheading up to the end of the nineteenth century prior to turning to hanging.

Wow, I have also heard messed up stories in the past but this one is completely screwed up. If those Al Qaida thugs actually had the balls to do something for their stupid cause (whatever that is), then why dont they fight the coalition troops directly rather than kill innocent people, not to mention their own families, siblings, uncles, etc.. I am really suprised that there are 2 woman involved in this. If the poor uncle was killed for wearing jeans (or western-style trousers) then I would sure like to know what the hell the others were wearing, in particular the two woman. I tend to ask myself, how did it all come to this?? Iraq was one of the most advanced countries in the region. I've seen pictures dating back to the 1930's where every person was wearing a suit or a skirt and nice dress, lovely hair glowing, people were happy and had style, .. the same with the 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's, now look at them.. killing each other for not praying, for wearing proper cloths, for voting for a rival party, for selling or buying alchohol, for belonging to another religious sect, .... how did it all come to this? when will God get us out of this mess I wonder?

Yes this one really takes the biscuit. Here's another which hit home: Iraq journalist's family 'killed' An Iraqi journalist who lives in Jordan has said that 11 members of his family have been killed by Shia gunmen in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Dia al-Kawwaz said his two sisters, their husbands, and seven children were shot at the family home on Sunday. The police in Baghdad have not confirmed the attack, but one officer told the BBC the killings had occurred. Mr Kawwaz edits a website that has been critical of the Iraqi government and the US military presence in Iraq. Heres a follow on from the earlier story I posted on this thread. This Kawwaz character seems to be somewhat mad. What was he thinking by announcing to the world that his family were killed when all are safe and well. Did he assume no one would check the validity of his claim. What an a-hole! Iraqi journalist's family 'safe' The family of an Iraqi journalist - who he claimed had been killed by gunmen in Baghdad - have appeared on Iraqi television, apparently safe and well. Dia al-Kawwaz, who lives in Jordan, said that several members of his family were killed by Shia gunmen on Sunday. But a taped report on the US-owned al-Hurra TV showed his family, none of whom seemed distressed or injured. Mr Kawwaz' sisters denounced his actions, saying there had never been any sort of threat against them. One of his brothers-in-law suggested that he had made the story up for political reasons. Mr Kawwaz edits a website that has been critical of the Iraqi government and the US military presence in Iraq. He has lived outside Iraq for more than 20 years. On his site, Mr Kawwaz said the gunmen stormed into his family home in a Shia district of north Baghdad on Sunday, opening fire indiscriminately killing his two sisters, their husbands and four young children as they ate breakfast. He said the attackers threw explosives into the house before driving off in a vehicle with no number plates, passing unhindered through a nearby police checkpoint. Mr Kawwaz was unequivocal in accusing Shia militia men of carrying out the attack. I am horrified, no words will discribe how I feel. What did they gain from it all? In the old days, if a girl wore a mini skirt, the police will paint her legs with black paint and send her home. If a boy wore the old charleston trousers, they will cut it and shave his head and send him home. If a boy had side boards, they shaved it there and then. Until one day the daughter of minister got chased and killed when a car hit her. And all that nonesense got stopped, and the Mayor of Baghdad was sacked. WE HAVE PROGRESSED, since then. Al-Qaida promising its fighters 27 virgins when they blow themselves, killing all the in-fadels, and they killed more muslims than anyone else. I heard or read recently I can't remember, that Al-Qaida leadership has shares in many weapon manufacturing companies across the world. To them causing war is good business. I might be stupid, but it does make sense. What they are hoping to achieve? They will never rule a country, why? Because they will be an easier target to get rid of. They will never get rid of all the shiats or the sunnies, why? They are lacking in manpower. Although their numbers are increasing. They will never be able to get rid of christians, Buddasits, Hindu's or any other religion, why? They will have too many enemies to handle at any one time. It is a crazy world we are living in.

Milly, i have a problem with catagorizing all ... all americans are not the same, all iraqi's are not the same, all blacks are not the same, all greens are not the same, and on it goes, not all in iraq are crazy, not all in america are crazy. as calm and i both said and i am sure any sane person would agree, this world we now live in is crazy, crazy times and as i said very sad.
