Lion of Babylon -> The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/7/2007 11:47:18 PM)

Check this out!! [sm=smiley22.gif] Anyone who thinks the Americans will actually pull out of Iraq after GWB leaves office....think again. Do they really think building this monstrosity will endear them to the local populace? Crazy. What do you think? comments please.

PS: I hope the photo come out because I haven't had much luck with posting images on iraq4you in the past.

The Mega-Bunker of Baghdad
The new American Embassy in Baghdad will be the largest, least welcoming, and most lavish embassy in the world: a $600 million massively fortified compound with 619 blast-resistant apartments and a food court fit for a shopping mall. Unfortunately, like other similarly constructed U.S. Embassies, it may already be obsolete.

BREEZE -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/8/2007 5:26:36 AM)

Why in the world would they have built the biggest embassy in the whole world if they have plans of pulling out of Iraq....After all..GREENZONE is like their own 60th state...well at least thats what most ppl say in here...Iraq is a rich oil producing country so why would they leave...that is the main reason of the invasion after all...Just my opinion thou...

BTW...thanks for welcoming me in here LION of Babylon and YellowSunshine[:)]

sadiq2006 -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/8/2007 9:45:57 AM)

this is really stupid andf discusting from the americans because they are naive in politics, spending money on this garbage american embassy and not spending to the innocent iraqis who needs water, electricity and shelter and food, and spending it on this stupid embassy the americans have no diginity and no respect on the people land that they invade, and not building the basic needs for the iraqis like homes or hospitals or schools or security only to stay in iraq and steal oil (operation iraq liberation).[:@][:@][:@]

sadiq2006 -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/8/2007 9:53:16 AM)

this is all big lie they want to stay in iraq and to steal the oil while the iraqis are in distraction, i think they find the greenzone is heaven place with these stupid iraqi fake and puppet government, god i hate them.[:@]

Lion of Babylon -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/8/2007 10:27:37 AM)

Sadiq, I wholeheartedly agree. I also believe there is a lot more to you than the character you have created who posts only negative comments. I believe you are an Iraqi hiding behind a persona that has nothing to do with who you really are. Despite this and the many protestations from fellow respected members, I hold true to my belief that you will come out of your shell and be brave enough to be yourself instead of this character you currently choose to hide behind.

tigris81 -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/8/2007 7:15:36 PM)

These are probebly the only cranes in the whole of Baghdad and Iraq (except for the north). What a pity.
Perhaps that's what all the distraction is about, from the death squads to Al Qaida to Saddam's trials to the PKK. While Iraq is distracted, they build & expand their empire.
It just disturbs me to know that there are 4 million displaced Iraqis who barely cope to find somewhere to live and see an image of the largest embassy in the world growing in the heart of Baghdad, capable of housing thousands of people.

tigris81 -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/8/2007 7:17:22 PM)

Sadiq, as LOB said, if you really are an Iraqi then please show it. There should be no shame.

Lion of Babylon -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/9/2007 1:04:34 AM)

[X(] First Iraqis had to watch Saddam build his monstrous palaces and monuments while they barely had enough money to survive and now this. I don't think the Americans are going to win many hearts and minds with this tactic.

Hi BREEZE. Let us all have updates from time to time about whats really happening in Baghdad. Good to have a local posting on the forum as most of us here are on the outside looking in. Stay safe!

Iraqi100Percent -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/9/2007 9:22:45 AM)

the americans are not pulling out of iraq otherwise you would see the current government go hide and flee the country

the americans came to the region by the saudis then they moved out of it and went to qatar and kuwait and now they will settle in iraq for tens of years look at korea, germany, cuba all have us forces for over 50 years.

they can reduce their army presense from 160 thousands to 10 thousands but they will call it a major pull out. the remaining army is there to protect the US installed government in Iraq with the help of Iran and they will need them there to protect Oil interests and strategic goals which includes protecting Israel.

Don't be surprised when you find out that Iran and the USA are playing their game there and they are hand in hand on this otherwise why would someone want to build the biggest embassy there so close to an Iranian attack unless the two are on good terms behind the curtans.

farewell

Calm -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/9/2007 7:06:09 PM)

I hope they are using Iraqi labourers, they need the jobs and the money.  I know the remark is shallow, but I am so angry.  Every house in Baghdad in need for repairs because of the bombings and the shockwaves.  We need electricity and water, and if they can construct their embassy despite the bombing, then they are capable in putting petrol in the pumps, electricity 24/7, and clean drinkable water.  Postal service, and rebuild all the factories, and the ministries, and get the masses back to full employement.
Then build the damn embassy.

BREEZE -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/10/2007 2:32:44 AM)

Well sadiq2006,it isn't just the americans to blame for this but also the ongoing government for they allowed them to build it. After the invassion, they said they will open the palace for ppl to see but what have they done....aside from the walls built by the former regime, they had another firewall sorrounding it.

BREEZE -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/10/2007 3:06:58 AM)

Too bad to say that most of the laborers were foreigners. Some of the carpenters were recruited from other countries to work in kuwait but instead they were brought to Baghdad. Regarding electricity and water, they can restore it back in no time if and if they really want to but they don't care of the common ppl....their sufferings....what they are thinking is just for their own benefits.

Calm -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/10/2007 4:21:58 AM)

It is so much easier to rule a divided country, religiously, geographically and socially.  You break the people down and help them break each other, then you can rule them forever.

It is so easy to start tribal wars, and sectarian wars, because simply the people are not educated enough to realize what is going on.

I am not saying that this is the way of the americans, but it could be the way of the government, as one learn from the experience of the previous governments.  Why did we have saddam to rule us for 35 yrs?

YellowSunshine -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/10/2007 2:44:08 PM)

I am not even reading the posts prior as I do not want to put anyone elses thoughts or have my mind go in another direction.

OF COURSE they won't.  I suspect (pray I am wrong here) that things will be in such a state of affairs that the next administration will have no choice but to remain in the "middle east" period!  Now we have a tad bit of a mess in Pakistan, rumors about Iran and God knows what else is happening or God Forbid, planned on the horizon.

The USA and the New World Order Agenda will continue to play out.  I do think this was in the works many/many years ago.  Perhaps even before any of us were born.

As I have mentioned previously, even IF we were to "elect" a President with "good" intentions (honest-of course I realize they can not tell ALL for obvious reasons, but basically honest, caring more about lives than money or power) eventually (sooner than later) they do become corrupted or they never stay in office.  Unfortunately, I don't think they have a choice, I WISH I was wrong.

I'm afraid youre right YS. What ever President you elect, he/she will still keep the troops in Iraq. This is a long term American policy and being a dem/rep has nothing to do with it.

All that money spent on building an embassy while there are millions of people living below the poverty line in America, all that money spent in the war can help overcome major problems there too.  I am not asking to help other countries, but their own, or don't they care anymore?
They have serious drug problems, serious health issues nationwide, people simply cannot afford to pay for their treatment, pollution problems and so on.

America always been at war, win or lose, they enjoy fighting.  Simply look at their short history.

The american people are loving and friendly except when they wear a uniform, I believe they are brain washed somehow.

tigris81 -> RE: The New American Embassy in Baghdad. (11/13/2007 7:49:48 AM)

I dont think they care about their people living within the poverty line, a bit like the Iraqi government and other goverments. As long as they satisfy the peer groups and the high-net wealthy individuals that support presidential campaigns in order to get a return on their investments (through war & othrer policies like ammending laws and bills), then they consider their mission accomplished.

They are brainwashed indeed, even at times when they are not wearing their uniforms. The only problem is that when they do wear their uniforms, they feel that they are Gods and can do whatever they like to the rest of the world.

Of course they don’t care; if they did they would not have vetoed the health care bill. They’d rather spend the money on killing hundreds of thousands of people than providing affordable health care for the millions of kids in the US who are in need for it.

America lives and thrives on internal problems. It’s the heartbeat of the corporate sector. Attorneys, Judges, Police officers, Physicians, Prison wardens, and all those contractors who supply the above mentioned with their needs have to work and employ people. Movie studios, producers, movie theaters, I should say the entire movie industry has to make movies about the daily problems that face the people in America.

Television and radio stations and their reporters have to get the ratings, to get as rich as they can to take over the smaller stations. Newspaper presses has to buy ink and paper, employ reporters, buy printing machines, and so on and on and on.

If America had no problems, f everything and everyone lived in harmony, no one would be working, no big corporations would manipulate your daily lives to tell you that you need Live insurance, health insurance, Auto insurance, and property insurance to protect yourself.

So you see, these problems are what get the American people on their toes and bring them on their knees, to worship big-screen TVs. High definition DVDs, luxury automobiles, paying top $$$ for them. Now the newer generation worship Britney Spears, Hanna Montana, and others just like the older generation did Elvis, and the Beatles back in the fifties.

In a word, without problems, Americans have no lives.

Don’t forget, war sells weapons, makes more food available to those who are still alive by killing the unfortunates.
