On March, 29th 2003 and at 23:41:17.0450 (UTC) the owner of www.Iraq4u.com received a threatening e-mail demanding him to shut down the website (www.iraq4u.com) within 48 hours. These are the exact words “i ask for this web to be changed or shut down within 48 hours if not u will force me to shutt it down in my own ways”. The e-mail was submitted through the website’s ‘contact us’ script located at http://iraq4u.com/contactus.asp which formats the e-mail and sends it to the owner of the website. It also attaches the sender IP address (67.38.0.81)
The IP address (67.38.0.81) was confirmed in the website’s log which shows the date and time of the user's activity during his/her visit to the website. Parts of the website’s log are included at the end of this press release with our comments in red to explain what this individual was doing on the website.
We do understand the tense situation in Iraq and we hope the suffering of the Iraqi people is very near. However, we don't tolerate such intimidation and since the website is hosted in the United States, there are laws to protect against such threats therefore the owner of the website, who lives in the Detroit area, has contacted the local FBI on March 30 and reported this incident with a copy of the e-mail.
Both, the e-mail and the web log have been saved for future reference.
