Fact or Fiction or a stupid joke:
 Last night 11/7/2007, the satellite news channel Al Jazera had a very interesting piece of reportage which was ‘Weird Hybrid alien animals’ surfacing in Basra in the south of Iraq, attacking homes and people and apparently four people were killed by these weird animals within the past two weeks. By careful examination of the footage the animal is nothing but a Honey Badger, Badgers indeed are very nasty creatures, extremely hostile and capable of doing serious bodily harm and sometimes-fatal injuries to people. But the question is: why and how an animal like a Badger that is indigenous to South Africa, was capable of surfacing in Iraq. The type shown in the footage with ((white)) strip on the back is originated in South Africa and its presence in the south of Iraq is (((puzzling)). however an ((expert)) in these matters in the south of Iraq states that these animals should not be intimidated or attacked as the consequences could be fatal!! But Baggers have a very nice and valuable skin and beautiful hats could be made from that beautiful skin. Or they could be gathered and repatriated to the place that the have came from; I have never realized that the bankruptcy reached in Iraq by the experts, forces even cheap stunts like the introduction of wild animals to ease up the dire situation in Basra. Can we have a half a dozen of Indian Elephants and a dozen of Kenyan Lions please!!!

British blamed for Basra badgers

British forces have denied rumours that they released a plague of ferocious badgers into the Iraqi city of Basra.
 
Word spread among the populace that UK troops had introduced strange man-eating, bear-like beasts into the area to sow panic. But several of the creatures, caught and killed by local farmers, have been identified by experts as honey badgers.
 
The rumours spread because the animals had appeared near the British base at Basra airport. UK military spokesman Major Mike Shearer said: "We can categorically state that we have not released man-eating badgers into the area.
 
"We have been told these are indigenous nocturnal carnivores that don't attack humans unless cornered."
 
The director of Basra's veterinary hospital, Mushtaq Abdul-Mahdi, has inspected several of the animals' corpses. He said: "These appeared before the fall of the regime in 1986. They are known locally as Al-Girta.
 
"Talk that this animal was brought by the British forces is incorrect and unscientific."
 
'Ate a cow'
 
Dr Ghazi Yaqub Azzam, deputy dean of Basra's veterinary college, speculated that the badgers were being driven towards the city because of flooding in marshland north of Basra. But the assurances did little to convince some members of the public.
 
One housewife, Suad Hassan, 30, claimed she had been attacked by one of the badgers as she slept.
 
"My husband hurried to shoot it but it was as swift as a deer," she said. "It is the size of a dog but his head is like a monkey."
 
Sattar Jabbar, a 50-year-old farmer from Abu Sakhar, north of Basra, claimed he saw one of the badgers eat a cow.
 
"It tore the cow up piece by piece. I tried to shoot it with my gun but it ran away into the orchards," he said.

We need fatwa to kill all badgers now. 

I am sure they can capture those visious animals, and keep them in a Zoo or somewhere where there are no people.

They always existed in Iraq, I knew about them when I was sixteen, and a friend of our gardener had a piece of meat chopped off his leg by a badger.

They also exist in America I was told.

It takes a pack of wolves or dogs to bring down a cow doesnt it? How did this badger bring down the cow and tear it to pieces? What a lod of bull! This guy must have overdone it with the Arak before making this statement.

I didnt know that. Interesting. By the way there are badgers in the UK too.

Well, Yeppers, If we indeed got our act together and lived as God wanted us to.  Love for our fellow man.  Now THAT @ this present x in history would indeed surprise me.

Badger someone into doing something, If you badger someone into doing something, you persistently nag or pester them until you obtain what you want.

[:D]Dear Lion of Babylon, yes, that is indeed another type of badger, nagging, crying, biting, etc. could be part of the methods used by the real badgers.[:D][:D][:D][:D][8|] badgers  Badgers used the method of subjugation; they are fearless, ruthless, in nature. Hence no struggle should be made against them just leave them walk free in your farm eating wild and domestic livestock, Scientific research[:D][:D] has proved that they are experts in milking cows[:D], and that is plus the art of tearing them a part. Many wives perhaps have been accused of badgering their hubbys into getting the "to do" list completed.  Maybe u men think there should be a new law against this.  I can email my good buddy Pres. Bush about this.  I KNOW he loves my many emails!
