I’ve said it before and here it is again: Orwell was a genius. The whole premise of his book was to criticize the kind of government that attempts to control the intellect and emotions of its citizens. This is happening now on a global scale helped along by the modernization of the media. I’m a big fan of Mr. Blair's (not Tony)!
2 great quotes from 1984:
"The very word 'war', therefore, has become misleading. It would probably be accurate to say that by becoming continuous war has ceased to exist. ... War is Peace."
"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. ... We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. ... How does one man assert his power over another ... By making him suffer. Obedience is not enough. Unless he is suffering, how can you be sure that he is obeying your will and not his own? Power is inflicting pain and humiliation. ... A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. ... If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--for ever."
yeppers and so it is. g. orwell was indeed a "visionary" and we all should have listened up years ago. but no, all led like sheep to the slaughter. now here we are in 1984. i pray that "others" would WAKE UP and quit sleeping. http://www.truthdig.com/dig/item/20070323_calling_out_idiot_america/

Evening to you all. LOB's solution is very good for downloading free ebooks but success depends on whether the person sharing the file is online at the same time. This is fine for those with 24hr online access but not so practical if you rely on Internet cafés for your daily dose of WWW.
YS was correct to suggest ebay but credit cards are not yet widely used in Jordan. Zim if you don't have a credit card you can purchase credit with paypal which is accepted by ebay. Paypal cards are available from your local telecom exchange.
** ZIM: Luckily I have a copy of 1984 on PDF. Check your mailbox.
