I believe its a suitable time to ask who will be the right replacement for this current mehzela of a government. Guess who I think is the right man for the job!

Former Iraqi prime minister says security plan needs reconciliation to succeed
The Associated Press - Published: April 8, 2007

MUSCAT, Oman: Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi said Sunday the U.S.-Iraqi security plan needs political reconciliation and a general amnesty to succeed. Allawi was in Oman as part of a regional tour to push for Iraq's minority Sunni Muslims to have a greater role in the country's government, which is dominated by Shiites.

"A national political reconciliation, abolition of the exceptional laws that hurt the people and damaged their unity and a general amnesty are needed to make the security plan succeed," Allawi said after meeting with senior Omani officials.
But Allawi stressed that the security plan has not been a failure.

"We believe it is an advanced step, but it is certainly not enough without a real national reconciliation," he said. Allawi, who became Iraq's first post-Saddam prime minister, argues that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his government have made little headway reconciling with Sunnis who dominated Iraq under Saddam Hussein.

Many suspect Allawi, a Shiite, wants to have another go at the premiership. But he is unlikely to be able to form the necessary parliamentary coalition to retake the post because most Shiite lawmakers disagree with his secular views. His tour of several Arab countries, which also included Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, aims at building regional Arab support for a push to improve the situation in Iraq through reconciliation with the country's Sunni sect, from which most of the insurgents have sprung up.

A statement issued Friday by al-Maliki's office said the prime minister ordered pension payments for senior officers of Saddam's military and offered a return to service for lower-ranking soldiers, a major step aimed at defusing the Sunni insurgency and meeting U.S. benchmarks for his government.

Yes....Yes.....Yes

You can say that again.  I very much agree with you, we need someone tough rough and ready, someone who can united the shiats, and be supported by the sunni's.  Someone who is respected my the ethenic minorities, and he fits the bill.
He is well educated, good mannered, respected by many countries, including the british and the americans, and he is very persistant in getting what he wants.

From todays Al Zaman Newspaper:

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Alawi said the policy of ‘walls and military operations’ was doomed to failure.

“Such measures being implemented by U.S. and Iraqi forces are a recipe for a failed strategy. The only alternative is national reconciliation,” he said.

Latest Allawi News.

Former Iraqi prime minister Ayad Allawi, a sharp critic of the Shiite-led Iraqi government, will participate in an international conference on the country next week, an Egyptian news agency reported Saturday.

The move could spark conflict with Baghdad since Allawi is believed to be garnering support to replace Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government, which he has accused of being sectarian.

Allawi arrived in Cairo on Saturday to discuss Iraqi affairs with Egyptian officials, just as the Middle East News Agency reported that he planned to attend the May 3-4 conference. Allawi is believed to have Cairo's support, but it is unclear if the Egyptian government invited him to the conference.

MENA also reported that al-Maliki will head the Iraqi delegation to the upcoming meeting, citing Saad Mohammed Ridha, the head of Iraq's diplomatic mission in Cairo.

Allawi, while Shiite through family history, rejects mixing religion and government and says Iraq can only survive through reconciliation with Sunni Muslims. He was installed as Iraq's first post-Saddam prime minister and ran the country from June 2004 until his party was routed by religious Shiite parties in the January 2005 election.

Al-Maliki is said to fear rising support among U.S.-allied Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan for an Iraqi national unity government led by Allawi, a favorite of Washington.

i hope alawi has a chance again 2 lead iraq. but i c not many coments 4 this subject so i think most iraqis they dont trust him. i think they respect him but not trust. this is very important 4 iraqi ppl. if alwai get a 2nd chance him must get the trust of the ppl by doing good admin early. not promises like maliki but no action.

Reports have surfaced claiming Alawi is now openly engaging the Jihoosh Al Mahdi and their Mongol Iranian puppet Muqtada Al Sadr in discussions about the future of Iraq. I will wait before passing judgment but if true then I am to say the least disappointed. Lets wait and see if these reports are valid.

why why why? i was thinking always alawi was hating militias and he always say there is no room for such organizations in this new iraq. why he now is speaking 2 them about iraq future? this will lose him respect becuase he dosnt stick 2 his word! this i think is not good  for alawi.

Now, now....we only know that Alawi's people met with Sadr's people but we don't know what was said! It might be wise to wait before you go flying off the handle.
