A CRY FOR PEACE FROM
THE CHILDREN OF IRAQ

We, the suffering children of Iraq ask for your solidarity in organizing a 2 minutes action for peace, calling on all fighters to put down their weapons and seek other, more peaceful, means in solving their differences. Today, the people of Iraq in their entirety are facing the most crucial moment in their recent history. Our whole nation is facing a grave crisis as regards to our national security, unity of the country, and safeguarding of our existence.

Thousands of innocent men, women, and children have been killed and injured by these appalling terrorist attacks and sectarian infighting. More are dying every day and millions are at risk of starvation, and disease infestation. As of today, Hundreds of thousands are displaced refugees. Unexploded munitions remain scattered across the landscape; each bomb is a potential threat to an Iraqi child.

According to figures issued by Johns Hopkins University 655,000 or 2.5% of the Iraqi population has perished since 2003. We are confident that you will see This as an enormous figure and we believe it certainly merits your consideration for this day of action. There are also 6.5 million Iraqis living outside the country, leaving behind their homes, their lands, and their families.

The two minutes is not only a symbol of our children’s cry for peace.  And a chance for us all to reflect and remember the victims and their families - but it's also a chance to show our solidarity that we will stand strong and united with the people of Iraq against terrorism and violence and the heartache it brings. We consider this to be an International examination of conscience and ask for your kind assistance in organizing this important, heart warming, and humanitarian event.

The 1st of June will be an ideal day. We ask your help in generating support for our cause. It will be our dream to see every Church bells ringing, every mosque, every temple, every car horn, and everyone in this world give their support to those two minutes in one way or another.

May you have peace, and we thank you in advance.

I could not delete the first post; the system is setup in such a way that if I delete the first one, the entire thread will be deleted. Therefore, I had to edit it, and put a note to direct others to the complete one.

I will certainly be busy sending this letter off tomorrow..fyi there are a couple of mispelled words perhaps?(i am not perfect and mispell more than ever just bringing to your attention)!

Listening to the lovely NOT news here in the US...longer stays in your country for our troups I  am not happy here!!!!!!
Our (my?) country has lost it and I am so bloody angry I could scream...What is wrong here?  More death in your country and more death for our troups from here.  Death and destruction...I am sick PERIOD the migrane from hell.

I am thinking June 1st is too far off...not really because it will take that long to get the word out... I will be an emailing QUEEN here!

Asking myself why I am posting on a site for Iraq's people... I am thinking a couple of thoughts that I probably should not write...so for once I won't be so impulsive.

At this moment I WISH/DREAM that we had peace, that you folks with kind gentle hearts could all join fellow Americans, British, etc., that also have the same softness of soul for a meal.  Cooked by YOUR cooks, I love Pakistani, Indian food, my favorite and I cook it often.

Perhaps my rant and rave here will make someone smile or take someones mind off this miserable world.

With Sincere Love,
T.R.

Dear yellow
You can rant what you like, also not everyone here is an Iraqi, we have many different nationalities.

Spread the word, and thank you.

Are we going to call this a failed issue?

Have we passed the stage where no one cares anymore?

I need to know before I send more emails.

Hi Calm. Sorry for not responding to your posts for a while but we are exhibiting the re-build Iraq fair so I just haven't had much time lately. After the exhibition we have a series of seminars which will take me up until Friday when our delegation goes back to Iraq. In any case Judging by the lack of response from other members of this forum I don't think you'll have much joy getting assistance to your admirable idea. Harry, YS, Mout are the only ones who have offered help. I've sent your message to my contacts but most have replied that they are confused because they don't know what to do. I think June is optimistic. These things require strong support and time in order to develop. Harry had a good idea about setting up a website and he has posted the URL in your earlier post re this subject. I'll send you an email with some ideas as soon as I get a moment. All the best Azinorum

PS: I think Harry should now re-name this site alani4you. I've only been away from the forum for 2 days and all my posts have disappeared!

I emailed the letter (including the photo) to 5 churches that I personally know, and the neighborhood connection office in my city. The neighborhood connection office can distribute to the entire city and the neighborhood associations, if they wish to participate. As soon as I hear fro them, I will send them a thank you letter.

I have just emaild the letter to an Iraqi radio station located in Jordan. and topped it with the following.

To all those who can help us.
Dear Sir or Madam:
                                     Our children are our future

We are a group of Iraqis living abroad, trying to honor all those who have fallen victims to the savagery and blindness of the events in our beloved country Iraq. Although we live in various countries, we have found a way to get together and keep our fellowship, and the memories of our lives in Iraq alive.

We are trying to turn the attention of the world to an event that we are organizing. On the first of June we would like to honor every human life that was wasted in this inhumane conflict, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or creed. But most of all we would like the world to recognize the suffering of the children of Iraq. The daily threats on their lives, the debilitating living conditions, the lack of medication, and the growing number of orphans who need a loving heart, and a caring soul as much as they yearn for a piece of bread to bring a momentary smile to their tearful faces.

The next page is a call for the June 1st event we are organizing and asking for your help in spreading the news and let the world know that we might look insignificant in the eyes of some, nevertheless, we are still humans and we refuse to be overlooked and pushed aside or pushed around.

Respectfully,

(in reply to Calm)
