Hi LOB. I met some of the team at a celebration at the Royal hotel in Amman a couple of nights ago. They were sooooo tired from celebrating and our goal keeper didnt come from his room because he was suffering from exhaustion. I also think they looked nervous because they were getting ready to go to Baghdad. I hope they stay safe!
June 2003 Interviews with Iraqi students before the war praised Saddam Hussein and castigated the American invasion. Now, with the minders gone, their views haven't changed. We've just replaced Saddam Hussein with a greater power - the United States," seethes Uday Saddik. His ex-colleagues at the University of Baghdad agree. "We were helpless before, and now we are even more helpless." states Haider, who still denies Saddam ever gassed the Kurds. Iraq's elite students were always the most sheltered from the tyranny of Hussein, but their criticism of American policy is still damning.
In this interview from April 15th, 1994, Dick Cheney reveals the reasons why invading Baghdad and toppling Saddam Hussein wouldn't be a great idea. He also stipulates that "not very many" American soldiers' lives were worth losing to take out Saddam during the Gulf War.
Dudes. This is the first documentary mentioned by Harry in his Gods warriors thread. There are 2 more for Muslims and Jews which I will post when available. There are eleven parts to this in all.
Interesting documentary about Al Thawra City (I refuse to call it Sadr City).
October 2007 A rare look at life inside Iraq's most notorious slum. Sadr City, Baghdad, has become a breeding ground for radicalism. Many of its three million citizens depend on Muqtada al-Sadr for support.
"We are a republic of widows and orphans", one school teacher explains. "The mosques don't have enough coffins to hold funerals." The inhabitants of Sadr City want only one thing for the future: stability. For them, US troops are associated with death. Since the beginning of the surge, US troops have raided Sadr City almost every night. (more) Inside Muqtada's City - Iraq http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeImMVEPs7E
