What can be done to radically reduce the threat of more murderous terrorist attacks?
Implementing the suggested measures of improving home defenses (including better screening at ports, armed marshals on planes remote auto control of air planes) will reduce the terrorist threat but only until the terrorist find or use other ways.
Likewise apprehending or even physically eliminating the culprits and their superiors can have only short-term impact at best.

We as taxpayers and concerned citizens of this great nation are entitled to ask of our political leadership to develop policies that help eradicate the curse of terrorism. I suggest we deal with this problem at its root causes by the following measures:

We as taxpayers and concerned citizens of this great nation are entitled to ask of our political leadership to develop policies that help eradicate the curse of terrorism. I suggest we deal with this problem at its root causes by the following measures:

1. Have a foreign policy, which is based on promoting human rights and institutionalized democracy.
This is how democracy will work. Political freedom and democratic institution will by nature provide the check and balances that prevent any regime from organizing and aiding and hiding terrorist cells. Open healthy political life will engage the young and concerned in positive manner and reduces the chance of making them recruits of the extreme hate groups. Local indigenous Democratic forces in these countries will check these terrorist organizations and prevent them from becoming the menacing threat they are now. In these cases we do not need to lunch expensive bloody hate seeding military expeditions in distance and foreign lands.
2. Have a foreign policy based on promoting economic developments and a more just and broader sharing of wealth in the developing countries.

In my view the following are compelling reasons why the USA should develop a human rights based foreign policy
1. It will eliminate the root causes of terrorism
2. It is cheaper and more effective than the presently considered alternatives
3. To rectify the effect of horrible things we did that precipitated dictatorships in some of these countries during the Cold War period.
4. Unless we act now Saddam and his associates will have chance to provide the like murderers with the even more dangerous Germ/chemical weapons.

During the cold war period we set up, supported and propped up bloody dictatorships. Case example Iraq, we helped the Bathists of Iraq (the fascist party of which Saddam is a member) to overthrow the Iraqi Government on February 8th 1963. On that day our intelligence provided
The fascists with current name and address of all leading leftists secular and liberal intellectuals. According to all sources five thousands were murdered including more than half of the Academic Senate of Baghdad University. Five years latter Saddam and Company where brought back to power to finish the job. For the following 23 years with our support and blessing Saddam continued his selective murderous campaign. Tens of thousands of Iraqis died under torture or by a security agent bullet. The irony is it is not the liberals or the leftists who are promoting that horrible criminal attack on America. It is our Saddam and his cronies who promote, provide for and support the murderers of September 11th.

Germany's biggest newspaper has a new § in their constitution: "... always loyal to USA, no matter what happens." All journalist have to follow this orde. So this paper is out of doubt pro USA. But even there I found this readers letter:
In English: CNN showed palestinensians in the news, feasting after the terror acts in America. Now it comes out, that this film material is from 1991. The pictures show celebrating palestinensians after invasion of Kuwait by Amerika. A teacher in Brasil has taken the same pictures. Tell this all people in the world, so that they will learn how much dirt hides behind the press.
I heard somethig fitting into this information today on TV

Dear friends,

In these troubling times, I hope we can all remember that the true path to peace lies in forgiveness and reconcilliation, not in revenge.

The tragedy of 9/11 can bring out the best in people by encouraging us to reach out to those in need. At the same time, we should resist our President's (Bush's) misguided calls for war, retaliation and revenge as a response to this tragedy. We must let our leaders know that causing more killing is not the way to honor the memory of the people who died in Tuesday's attack. We need to examine our foreign policy that makes us so many enemies in the world, things like the scantions and bombings against Iraq, the legitimate need of the Palestinians for a homeland and self-determination, and America's blind support for Israel.

peacefully yours,
Nancy Hey
