Hugs and kisses to all the Iraqi people everywhere in the world. My husband is from Iraq and I think that the Iraqi people are the warmest in all the people that I have met in my life. Inshallah, I will get to go see his family in the near future. God protect that country because it is full of history.
Good luck all.
See you in Iraq soon.

Petition to safeguard the history of mankind

In the month of April 2003, the (cultural) world was shocked with the savage looting of the Museum of History in Baghdad.
The lost material was described as of global significance in the evolution of civilization. A looted vase was found in Uruk, one of the first major urban settlements in southern Mesopotamia and that means in the world. Finding these invaluable
objects and getting them presented to us, the inheritors of this civilization, was possible thanks to huge efforts of dedicated excavators since 1840. The loss is comparable to the Mongol invasion and burning of Baghdad in the 13th century.
Kofi Annan called it "a wound inflicted on all humankind". This was to a large extent possible because 87 countries did not join the Convention of the UNESCO prohibiting trading with illicit cultural property. Please help pressure these countries to
sign, by visiting the site:

Dear Iraq,

I am an artist in the United States Of America. I am saddened that the culture of your country virtualy stopped after Saddam Hussien came into power. I look at the photographs of your artists and musicians on your website and most of them are in black and white of people in the 1940's. Tyranny is a cancer that consumes the flames of the hottest fires of creativity. But you are about to write a new chapter in Iraq's cultural achievments for out of troubled times come art, music and writing and soon your artists will bring you new fruits uniqe to Iraq and the world will once again see the beauty of Iraq's people.

When I discovered the Ma'dan of the marsh lands in your country and gazed at their reed huts with the uniqe architecture I began to understand just how gifted and uniqe the Iraqi people are. Then I learned of the systematic destruction of the Ma'dan and that entire eco system of wetlands and I could not believe the evil of Saddams regime. I am dedicating a series of oil paintings to the Ma'dan and thier vanishing culture. If anyone has any photographs of this culture's people and marsh lands please e-mail them to me at rjbowles57@hotmail.com

Thank you, and may God grant you peace.
